Second Chance Humane Society is proud to be able to offer dog training classes and behavioral assistance to the community. We offer this service with the goal of enhancing the bond between people and their pets.
We also offer individualized training sessions by appointment to cover more specific behavior issues or for dogs that struggle in the group setting.
These courses are designed to provide owners with the knowledge to understand the theory of how dogs learn and apply that knowledge through positive reinforcement training. Lessons include sit, down, wait, watch me, loose leash walking, come when called, and leave it. Owners will develop a deeper understanding of their pets and learn how to effectively communicate with them in order to provide a well rounded and safe lifestyle for all.
Introductory Manners courses take place once a week for six weeks here at the shelter. We ask for a $75 - $100 donation to cover resources and staff time. All participating dogs must be altered (spayed or neutered) and be current on Rabies and DHPV vaccines. We cannot accept aggressive dogs into class.
If you have any questions or would like to participate please contact the shelter at 970-626-2273 or email animalcare@adoptmountainpets.org.
