Our Mission

Saving Animals & Promoting the Human-Animal Bond

Chaucey Edwards

Chaucey Second Chance Humane Society Ridgway ColoradoBorn and raised in rural Nebraska, animals have always been a huge part of Chaucey’s life. From horses to kittens and everything in-between, being around animals from a young age helped drive her passion for helping animals and for promoting the unconditional love we share with them.

Chaucey has an extensive background in healthcare and received her B.S. in Medical Technology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE in 1996 and more recently obtaining her EMT-B in 2012. She has held positions in pharmaceutical sales, skilled nursing/hospice, Emergency Medical Services and most recently medical sales/marketing for Medtronic in Boulder, CO.

Moving to Ridgway from Boulder in 2017 has been a dream realized after many years of planning to set up camp in Ouray County. Chaucey is an avid mountaineer, who completed her 14er quest in 2012 on Mount Wilson in Telluride, skier and cyclist, and she also enjoys hikes with her new pup, Wilson who she recently adopted from Second Chance. You can catch them strolling along the River Path in Ridgway or out on the trails around Ouray and Telluride. At home, time is spent cuddling with her 3 rescue kitties, and trying to capture awesome pictures of Wilson playing with them every chance he gets.

Chaucey along with her parents and sister, who all left this world too soon, had shared many memories in the area over the last 12 years. She has dedicated her time and resources to honor their lives and love of animals through projects and volunteering at Second Chance. She continues to support events held to raise awareness of the human-animal bond, and help find loving, forever homes for shelter animals.

“Animals bring so much love and happiness to my life and continue to amaze me every day with their unconditional love and enjoyment of the simple pleasures such as a good belly rub. I think we can all strive to be more like them!”
