Ashley Bradley graduated from Arizona State University in 1988 with a B.S. in Communications / Marketing. She went on to attain a professional culinary degree in Chicago, IL. After attaining this degree, she became Director of Sales for an off-premise catering company, Elegant Edge Catering, in downtown Chicago. Ashley's work there,as Director of Sales, included soliciting and maintaining numerous high-end business accounts in downtown Chicago, as well as, overall menu development for the company. In 1996 she and her husband moved to Scottsdale, AZ., where she started working with Culinary Arts & Entertainment to develop their "Celebrity Chef" concept for entertaining. After approximately a year and a half, Ashley purchased this facet of the company, and developed her own event planning business, In Good Taste. This business focused on creating memorable events for both corporations and private individuals. The company's services included: catered functions, celebrity chef dinners, cooking classes, team building exercises, etc.
In December of 2007, Ashley and her family moved full-time to Telluride, CO. This move was prompted by a desire for a "slower lifestyle" and the unique opportunities afforded to them by choosing to raise their son in a small, mountain ski town. Since moving to Telluride, Ashley has become involved with the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program. She has been a volunteer instructor, with the program, for the past three years. Last year working over 170 on-snow volunteer hours! She has also been a member of the Parent's Association at the Telluride Mountain School since 2007. Ashley coordinated all of the food service for the Mountain School's biggest fundraiser, Movie Night, in both 2009 and 2010. This event raised more than $60,000.00 for the school's scholarship fund. Ashley's number one joy in life is being a mother and watching the growth and evolution of her son, Morgan. In addition, skiing, friends, travel and making the most of the beautiful natural landscape of Telluride, are her greatest joys!
In the summer of 2010, Ashley & her son, Morgan, became involved with Second Chance. The idea originated with a desire to expose her son to the benefits of volunteering. The two became regular volunteers at the Telluride Farmer's Market, in addition to, visiting the shelter to walk dogs and cuddle kittens. The experience of volunteering for the shelter has been more than either one of them could have hoped for. In the process, not only has Morgan learned the value of "giving back", but both Ashley and her son have experienced the tangible results of their efforts .... wagging tails and appreciative meows! They went on to organize the first "Santa Paws" event, in Telluride, in several years, this past winter. Ashley was asked to join the Board of Directors, for Second Chance, in the Fall of 2010.
I have seen the magic that occurs when the right person is matched up with the right dog or cat, from Second Chance. It is a wonderful thing to be a part of ... finding that "forever home" for a well-deserving animal, offers a special sense of contentment and satisfaction for all who participate in the process.
