Through her work with Second Chance Humane Society Kelly combines her passion for animals with that of making a positive difference in the lives of others. Initially obtaining a Masters degree in Sport Psychology, Kelly’s work focused on supporting people in pursuing their true potential. She applied this in working with athletes, youth, professionals, and businesses.
Wanting to make an impact within more underserved demographics, Kelly obtained a Masters degree in Social Work and directed social services as well as prevention programs within challenged communities. It was during this time that Kelly became involved in animal rescue.
Upon moving to Ridgway in 2005 Kelly was immediately drawn to working with Second Chance. She became the organization’s first executive director of which she shared, "Through Second Chance I am privileged to work with a dedicated team of compassionate people who are truly committed to transforming animal welfare services in our region".
Kelly’s other interests include an array of outdoor sports with her pets and family. Her local community involvement has included volunteering with One to One Mentoring Program, Ouray County Community Development Committee, Ridgway Area Mountain Bike School, Pets Turning Pages, and developing and coaching a youth basketball program.
