Vice President

Heather Cammisa

Heather was recently voted to serve as Vice President of the board for SCHS given her twenty-five years of experience in mission impact, with more than a dozen of those years as the chief executive of two non-profit organizations. A land owner in Colorado since 2011, she and her husband purchased their home on the West Slope in 2017 after falling in love with the natural beauty and friendly people. 

She is a Certified Animal Welfare Administrator through the Association of Animal Welfare Advancement, holds a graduate certificate in Wildlife Forensics and Conservation from the University of Florida and is a certified animal control office and animal cruelty investigator. She has a Master’s degree in Economics from Rutgers University and worked in both financial and social economics before devoting her career to cause advancement. 

She has served on the boards of diverse community - animal response and animal protection organizations including a marine mammal stranding center, animal shelters, regional professional and national advocacy organizations. She is a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences. 

She is a senior advisor with a mission based consultancy working from her home when not travelling to support clients across the country.

She and her husband, a popular local chef, share their home with beloved adopted pets Roger, Sunny & Cato. When not working, she can be found gardening in a geodesic greenhouse or out in the woods appreciating nature.
