Volunteer Code of Ethics
Second Chance Humane society endeavors to create an open and fun environment in which volunteers may participate, learn, and aid the organization in achieving its mission. Just as we strive to uphold our commitment to each and every individual, we ask that each volunteer commit to the following code of ethics.
As a Second Chance Volunteer I commit to:
Safety
- Keep Safety –for self and animals - at the forefront of all volunteer activities
- Set boundaries for myself – know my limits with the animals and other activities
- Follow guidelines of training
- Report all injuries immediately to a staff person
Education
- Familiarize myself with the policies and procedures of the organization
- Seek training from staff members for operations I want to learn
- Ask for help when needed
- Spread the word to others of SCHS volunteer opportunities
Care
- Display compassion, respect, & sensitivity for people and animals I work with
- Communicate my concerns and needs with the appropriate staff member
- Strive to promote a positive work environment
- Know I am making a difference and appreciated
Enjoyment
- Find ways to continue enjoying and growing through my volunteer experience
- Feel the love and joy of the animals I work with and for
- Get to know the other wonderful volunteers who hold similar values and concerns
- Know I am welcome to participate in all SCHS special events
