"Dude" Gives Thanks

Dear Second Chance Humane Society Pet Column Readers, Happy Thanks Giving week!
My name is Dude. At the moment I am a homeless pet rescued by the folks at Second Chance until I find my new home. I wanted to express my gratitude to all the members of the vast Second Chance community who have made it possible for Second Chance to gain its new home. I have heard stories of what “shelters” are like yet the comfort and care that I have found since arriving here do not reflect those stories. For this I am thankful.
I thank the staff and volunteers who care for my needs, provide me with exercise and socialization, and most importantly - show me love and affection. I am thankful that I will be comfortable, nurtured, and safe here until my new forever family finds me. I am thankful that if I become ill I will receive proper veterinary attention. And I am thankful that the staff will make sure that I find the right home where I will be treated with the love and respect that all beings deserve.
I am thankful that I have huge yards to play in with the other dogs here at Second Chance and a warm bed next to my dog buddies as well. I am thankful that my best buddy Ellis found a fantastic new home last week and I am excited about when my new family will arrive to take me home. For all of this I am thankful.
This week and every week hereafter, I hope that you all know how much the animals, volunteers, staff, and board of directors appreciate all that you do to give me and the thousands of animals before and after me a second chance. Thank you.
