Our New Home!

Dear Second Chance Supporters,
I wanted to share the vast gratitude felt as I learn firsthand about the heart and generosity of the people in this small section of the world. After almost 18 years of dreaming, hoping, planning, and endeavoring Second Chance Humane Society has a forever home where thousands of homeless animals for years to come will find a haven until they move on to their own forever home. Having completed the purchase last week, we are moving our animal shelter operations and programs to Angel Ridge Ranch in just a few days, made possible by the countless numbers of people who have supported this dream over the years.
It’s been a long journey but we can now celebrate all the more knowing that Angel Ridge Ranch will not be “just another shelter” but a vibrant animal resource center where the community can participate at every level to extend its impact. From nurturing and rehabilitating pets in need to providing education and necessary resources to support responsible pet parenting, we will all be more effectively building second chances. And we ask the community to continue participating.
We have come so far yet still have so far to go. Because the purchase timeline for Angel Ridge was so tight Second Chance Humane Society financed the remainder of the purchase price ($400K) after the community had contributed over 1/3 of the price ($200K) in 4 furious months. Thus critical fundraising will continue with a goal of paying for the property as well as to begin the next phase of the campaign, constructing purpose built facilities to properly house more dogs and cats for many years to come.
Given all of the building it is important to understand that we also will be depending on general contributions from the community so that the capital campaign does not negatively impact our annual operating budget. It is hard for us to keep asking for support but we will need it more than ever in the next few years as we settle in to our new home, continue our growth, and care for increasing numbers of animals.
To kick it all off, please consider coming to our Open House/Halloween Party on Saturday October 29th (1-4PM) and witness firsthand how your dollars have been applied to deliver a community service in a manner we can all be proud of. And you can visit with our homeless pets – the true benefactors of a community that cares.
In Gratitude,
Kelly Goodin, Executive Director
