Seeing Eye Person Needed

We can't tell you how many times we've heard adopters say that 'shelter pets are the best'. Unfortunately it never seems like enough to break the perception that the pets that wind up in shelters are rejects in some form or fashion. Like Mona for instance. Sure, she's 90% blind due to accelerated Pannus and in need of a seeing eye person. But, she's got the makings of one of those 'best pets ever' that we so often hear of. How so?

Well, let's just say that great pets start with personality and not with their ability to see! Mona is an exceptionally sweet, people-focused (pun intended) dog that is an amazingly quick learner. She walks well on leash, knows several basic commands and is, most of all, a happy dog that gets along well with others. Her vision impairment causes her to be a little tentative in new situations, but she readily overcomes new things in a breeze.

We don't know Mona's full story. Maybe she was a reject that somebody simply didn't want or could not afford to treat (pannus requires ongoing, inexpensive treatment). And as much as some people may view her as another unwanted shelter dog, we believe that she is destined to make the mark as one of the best dogs we've ever adopted! She just needs that seeing eye person that is seeking a four legged friend to hang out with.

Many thanks to the Wags and Menace Foundation Medical Fund for providing resources to treat Mona!
