Already full with cats, Second Chance responded to Montrose Animal Care's request for assistance after they took in 15 cats and kittens from what appears to be a case of neglect and abandonment. While such cases are uncommon, they pose a serious health risk to the animals and often require greater resources than any one organization has at one time. As a member of the WeCARe animal coalition, that's where Second Chance comes in.

Second Chance's purchase of Angel Ridge has brought out the best in community support. Volunteers and donors have truly dug deep and pitched in to make this dream a reality. And, as a few young business women recently found out, there's no better way to raise money than through a bake sale!

You've probably heard the news that Second Chance is moving to Angel Ridge! As excited as we are, moving is stressful... especially when you're moving a large population of animals, all of which are looking for a loving home. Don't make them move twice!

What started in June as a dream opportunity for Second Chance is, as of today, a new reality. On this day, Second Chance Humane Society finalized the purchase of Angel Ridge Ranch with the intent of using it responsibly as an animal shelter and for the benefit of our community. Not only does this day mark the most significant historical event in our organization's history since its founding, it also begins our countdown to moving to Angel Ridge and to making it a permanent home for Second Chance.

In a previous blog post I'd written about Second Chance's financial position and how we plan to fund the purchase of Angel Ridge Ranch. Hopefully that clearly demonstrated how we can afford this purchase, but please contact us with any further questions that you might have because today I'd like to write about how Second Chance, and the community we serve, cannot afford to miss this opportunity.

Though Second Chance's recent purchase of Angel Ridge Ranch has widely met support, we've received a few questions regarding the purpose and financial feasibility of the undertaking. That's understandable as Angel Ridge is sizable and offers so many possibilities while the average capital campaign to successfully achieve such an investment in capacity typically takes over 6 years to complete. It's this latter point that is the focus of this blog entry, which will followed up with more details about the intent for Angel Ridge next week.

Wine & Whiskers has been a winter staple for San Miguel County and Ouray County residents seeking a break from the cold and wanting celebrate good times with Second Chance.
